Mabel Colvin Family

Here's a picture of Mom's (Ruby Wells) family. Harry is taking the picture which leaves Irene as the missing sibling. This was taken at the farm in Gowanda, New York. You could say they lived on the wrong side of the river, since their property was up next to the indian reservation.

After moving in with Aunt Irene I learned a whole lot about my Eastern relatives. Of all the aunts and uncles, Irene was the one who consistently sent all the cousins birthday cards. When I was younger it never occurred to me what a kind gesture that was. Since she never married she kinda adopted all the cousins in her own way.

Mom provided most of the pictures that are shown here. In some ways I think she really missed having "family" since we were the only ones to live on the westcoast. But she couldn't give up the wonderful warm winters of South California so he we stayed.
