Mom's Family Tree
After Dad graduated from the University of Washington, jobs were hard to find. However, with all the electricity generated by the Niagara River, there were quite a few industries that sprouted in this area. One of these was Colonial Recording where he began his career, a company located on the northside of Buffalo. While he was there he met Ruby who was attending a school, Bryan Stratton, in downtown Buffalo.

Well, they met at a YMCA dance, and this was the time when men went to the YM and women went to the YW and it actually had a kind of christian quality, totally different from the YMCA of today. Seems like Dad commented more that once that you didn't even need a bathing suit at the Y, because everyone swam naked since it was all just guys back then. Can you imagine that happening today? So they dated, got engaged and while Josie was attending a DAR meeting in Chicago, she hopped on the train and came out to see her future daughter-in-law.
