When Dad decided that he would prefer working and living in California, it took Mom about two minutes to agree since she really did not enjoy the cold, cold winters of western New York (which are even colder that the winters in Chicago!). So in the Fall of 1941 they headed for the westcoast taking the northern route. After arriving in Everett, they spent some time with Dad's relatives.
